Amritsar, Sep 21: The man who allegedly kidnapped an assistant professor of Guru Nank Dev University (GNDU) from Amritsar on September 11 allegedly committed suicide in Amboli village of Maharashtra on Wednesday, it is learnt. But there is still no trace of the professor, Sukhpreet Kaur, 32, who belongs to Baghapurana in Moga district.

Sources said she was last seen in Dhilwan in Kapurthala district, and later also not seen in the front seats of the car when Garry in the driving seat was captured in cameras at highway toll plazas of Jaipur and Vadodara. This has raised suspicions that she may have been murdered.

Sources said police found the body of Jazzinder Singh Virk, alias Garry, 30, of Kharar in Mohali, next to his car, and informed counterparts in Amritsar. Cops from here reached the spot on Wednesday evening, and now suspect that he may have killed Sukhpreet, with whom he was once hoping to get married after responding to an advertisement in 2014.
