Chandigarh, October 17: It has been notified that in the Assembly constituency Phagwara, Mukerian, Dakha and Jalalabad voting is scheduled to take place on October 21, hence it would be a local holiday on the government offices, boards / corporations and educational institutions located in these constituencies.
Besides, in order to enable employees working in factories/shops and commercial establishments situated in the said Assembly Constituencies to exercise their franchise in the bye-elections to be held on 21 October, it will be a paid holiday and a closed day in the factories/ shops and commercial establishments situated within the said Constituencies.
However, Monday falling on October 21 shall not be a close day for the week falling between October 20 and ending on October 26 as weekly holiday in lieu of their normal weekly holiday, informed the official spokesman of Government of Punjab.
Punjab govt declares holiday for Haryana employees too
On account of Haryana State Assembly elections slated for October 21, 2019 any official / employee working in Punjab government offices / boards / corporations / educational institutions but is a voter in the Haryana State Assembly Constituency, can avail special leave to cast the vote from the concerned authority by submitting a copy of his voter card, informed an official spokesman of government of Punjab. This leave will not be deducted from the employees’ leave account, informed he and added that a notification to this effect has been issued.
Besides, in order to enable labourers working in factories/shops and commercial establishments situated in the State of Punjab who are voters in Haryana to cast their votes, October 21, 2019 has been declared as a paid holiday within the revenue jurisdiction of the districts adjoining to the areas of Haryana State.
It will be a ‘closed day’ for the employees who are voters of Haryana working in the factories/shops and commercial establishments of the State of Punjab. However, this shall not be a ‘closed day’ in lieu of weekly off falling between 20th October, 2019 and 26th October, 2019, informed the official spokesman of Government of Punjab.
