Karnal, January 28: Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar on Monday reiterated that the Lok Sabha and Assembly elections would not be held simultaneously.
“As of now, we are not going to hold simultaneous elections,” he told the media after the closing ceremony of the two-day mega job fair at Government PG College here.
The Chief Minister had on several occasions in the past said the state government would not go for simultaneous elections. But in the run-up to the Jind Assembly byelection, rumour spread that parliamentary and Assembly elections would be held at the same time. Khattar laid to rest such rumours on Monday.
On the Jind byelection, the CM said the BJP would definitely win.
About 6,300 job aspirants participated in the job fair. Of them, 2,300 youths, including 690 from Karnal district, were given job letters by 100 private companies. The Chief Minister handed over appointment letters to four youths — Shikha, Rubal, Anu and Shubham.
Khattar hailed his government for providing five marks to candidates, who were the first ones in their families to seek government service. “The initiative has bore fruit as about 12,000 youths selected in the Group-D test are first in their family to get government jobs.”
Khattar asked job aspirants to develop skills so that they became job-providers, and not job-seekers. “The construction of Shri Vishwakarma Skill Development University in Palwal has started. About 12,000 students will get admission in 800 skill development courses,” he said.
He admitted unemployment was a big challenge, but added his government was making efforts to overcome it. To drive home the enormity of the situation, he said: “About 5 lakh children are born in the state every year, but only 15,000 jobs are offered.”
He thanked the private companies for providing energetic youth of the state with jobs.
