Balwinder Singh Bains is the MLA from Ludhiana South. He contested as an Independent candidate. A graduate from Panjab University, Balwinder Singh Bains was elected as the MLA from Ludhiana South seat in 2012. He won by a huge margin of 32,233 votes by defeating Hakam Singh Giaspura of Shiromani Akali Dal.
