Balwinder Singh Bains is the MLA from Ludhiana South. He contested as an Independent candidate. He was born on 12-03-1959 at Ludhiana. Name of his father is Mohan Singh Bains. He is a graduate from Panjab University, Chandigarh, in 1983.

Constituency

Ludhiana is one of the 22 districts and the biggest city of Punjab. Ludhiana is the district headquarter and a hub of industry. The main industries are bicycle parts and hosiery. It has eight tehsils, seven sub-tehsils and 12 development blocks. As of 2011 Census, the district population constituted 12.59 percent of the the ustal Punjab population.

Balwinder Singh Bains was elected as the MLA from Ludhiana South seat in 2012. He won by a huge margin of 32233 votes. Hakam Singh Giaspura of Shiromani Akali Dal was the trailing candidate.
