Chandigarh, July 23:
In a Major Crackdown at night by inter-district food team to check adulteration of milk and milk products, the supply chain of spurious paneer being sold at a very low price has been traced, informed K.S.Pannu, Commissioner FDA Punjab.
The raid which was conducted on tip off to break supply chain of adulterated and substandard milk and milk products started on Wednesday morning, continued overnight. This included checking the premises of dealer of dairy equipment and reagents, manufacturing unit of paneer and retailer of cheap spurious paneer.
Raid started with Aggarwal Equipment PVR Ltd, near the bus stand in Ludhiana. The owner’s shop and godowns were inspected and samples of desi ghee were taken. This led the team to raid a paneer manufacturing unit Mukand Milk Centre in village Matoi, Malerkotla, district Sangrur. Milk in the unit was brought from Rajasthan without maintaining proper colds chain. The team then traced another retailer Luxmi Dairy, Tibba road ludhiana who was selling paneer at very low price. Inspection and sampling were done. The raid led to seizure of 135 litres of ghee, 8000 litres of milk in milk tanker from Rajasthan, 1200 litres of milk in another centre and 100 kg of paneer in Luxmi dairy.
Under tandrust Punjab mission, as per directions of Health Minister Mr. Balbir Singh Sidhu, such raids were being conducted to check the sale of milk and milk products which are not conforming to standards laid by Fssai are likely to continue, informed Commissioner FDA.
The inspection Team comprised of assistant commissioner food Mr. Amrit pal Singh Sodhi,food safety officer Sandeep Singh and food safety officer Yogesh Goyal.
