Manoranjan Kalia is a lawyer-turned-politician. Kalia is a leader of Bharatiya Janata Party legislature party in Punjab and was the cabinet minister in Akali Dal-BJP government. He was born on 09-12-1958 at Nakodar, district Jalandhar. Name of his father is Manmohan Kalia. His residence is at Jalandhar City. He contested for the seat of MLA from Jalandhar Central. In the present SAD-BJP government, Manoranjan Kalia has the status of a Cabinet Minister.

Jalandhar is not only the oldest city of Punjab but also that of the country. Jalandhar has seen rapid urbanization and developed inthe us a highly industrialised centre of commercial activity in recent years. Jalandhar was the capital of Punjab from India’s independence (1947) until Chandigarh was built in 1953. On the Grand Trunk Road, it is a major rail and road junction and is 144 km northwest of the state capital, Chandigarh. The city was known as Jullundur in British India.

Manoranjan Kalia is the MLA from Jalandhar Central. He is associated with BJP. He was elected as MLA from this Vidhan Sabha seat in the elections held in 2012. He won by a margin of 1065 votes. Rajinder Beri of Congress was the trailing candidate.
