Minister Dharamsot exhorts NGOs to plant trees for environmental conservation

CHANDIGARH, JULY 22:

Punjab Forest Minister Mr. Sadhu Singh Dharamsot has urged all the social organizations working in the state to come forward for saving the environment. He said that all interested and willing organizations will be roped in to work in tandem for plantation and conservation drive under Mission Tandarust Punjab.

The Minister extended welcome to all those organisations willing to work for environment protection in state. He said it is need of the hour to motivate and inspire more people to plant trees. Stressing on need to plant more tress, he said we can make Punjab and its environment greener and more healthier with this initiative.

He appealed to all officers and officials of forest department to celebrate My Tree Day on coming July 26 at district level with enthusiasm to encourage others. He also urged all NGOs to support this noble step. Emphasizing on planting maximum saplings across the state, he said that green cover would be widened with the support of the residents of the state.

It is worth mentioning that Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar based Mr. Ashwani Joshi, Founder of ‘GO Green International Organization had started celebrating ‘International My Tree Day’ from 2010 on last Sunday of July every year to connect denizens with trees. Since then the organization has been actively motivating the residents of Punjab for environmental protection and conservation with its unique efforts.
