Gurdaspur, December 3: Health Minister Brahm Mohindra on Sunday pulled up officials of the district administration for not inviting all stakeholders to a function held to spread the message of “eat right India”.

The event was presided over by him in the presence of officials of the Punjab Food Commissioner’s office and District Health Department.

On the occasion, the minister also flagged off “Swasth Bharat March” in the city. The participants had come from Leh and were on their way to Kanyakumari delivering the message of eating healthy food.

Mohindra told SDM Sakattar Singh Bal that he was not happy as hoteliers, dhaba owners, sweetshop owners and even traders from the vegetable market were not invited to the event.

“These are the people who indulge in adulteration and they should have been asked them to come here. What is the point of holding a meeting related to healthy food when people selling eatables were not invited?” said the minister.

The minister also flagged off a food testing van in the city. The van named Food Safety on Wheels is an initiative of the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI). It has a state-of-the-art laboratory which is fully equipped to conduct tests for common adulterants in milk, water, edible oils and other items.
