The complainant, Ram Singh of Sector 32, Chandigarh Road, said he was a cashier at Khushi Ram and Sons for the past year. He kept a moustache as part of his religious practice.

He stated that on Sunday, when he was working at the cash counter, Gupta came to him and asked him to “lower” his moustache. When he refused, Gupta started threatening him and asked Parveen to bring a pair of scissors.

“When I resisted, Gupta thrashed me. He overpowered me with Parveen’s help and cut off my moustache,” he stated.
