Naib tehsildar among seven booked for fraud

Date:

Muktsar, March 12: The Gidderbaha police have booked a naib tehsildar, an advocate and five other persons for allegedly duping a mentally challenged mother-son duo by transferring the latter’s residential property in the name of someone else.

In his complaint to the police, Naresh Kumar, brother of victim Saroj Rani and maternal uncle of Raj Kumar, alleged that advocate Thakur Dass Sharma, naib tehsildar Jagdish Rai and Baljit Singh, Jaspal Kaur, Manvir Kaur, Baljit Singh and Varinder Grover had cheated them by transferring their prime property in exchange of a lower-value vacant plot in 2016.

He claimed that his sister and nephew were declared mentally unfit by doctors and were unable to complete legal formalities.

Rajpal Singh, DSP, said, “A case of cheating has been registered after getting legal opinion from the district attorney.”

The Gidderbaha Bar Association condemned the action against the advocate. The advocates have called a meeting tomorrow to decide the course of action.
