Jalandhar, April 27: Finance Minister Manpreet Badal on Thursday brushed aside charges against the Congress government of promoting “family rule” in the appointment of Navjot Kaur Sidhu as chairperson of the Punjab State Warehousing Corporation (PSWC).
Manpreet, who was here at the residence of Shahkot leader Dr Navjot Dahiya, backed the appointment, saying: “Just because she happens to be the wife of a minister, Navjot Kaur cannot be made to suffer and denied her right of getting a government position. She has worked hard and has her own standing. She has been a social and a political worker. She has been an MLA and a Chief Parliamentary Secretary. Moreover, she looks after her husband’s constituency.”
The FM claimed that all liabilities on his government were now over and he hoped that the financial condition of the state would improve in a year and a half. On candidate for the Shahkot bypoll, he said: “That is for party high command to decide.”
