Chandigarh, December 20
Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Punjab state President and MP Bhagwant Mann has accused Punjab Pradesh Congress President Navjot Singh Sidhu of running away from a constructive debate on various issues of Punjab. Mr. Mann said that like Mr. Pargat Singh, Education Minister, Punjab and Mr. O.P. Soni, Health Minister, now Navjot Singh Sidhu is also backing out of a debate on the future of the state.
In a statement issued from the party headquarters, in the reference of a tweet on Monday, Bhagwant Mann also asked Navjot Singh Sidhu about illegal mining in the state, especially in Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi’s constituency Chamkaur Sahib.
Addressing Navjot Sidhu, Bhagwant Mann tweeted, “Why is Sidhu running away from debate with me? Sidhu Bhaji, why are you scared of me? Why is Sidhu not speaking on illegal sand mining in CM Channi’s constituency? What are the compulsions due to which he has not said a word on illegal mining in Chamkaur Sahib?Selective outrage? ”
Bhagwant Mann said that Navjot Singh Sidhu was disturbed by the guarantees being given to the people of Punjab by Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and challenged Kejriwal to debate on various issues, which was accepted by Arvind Kejriwal. As president, I (Bhagwant Mann) was invited to have a debate, because Navjot Sidhu is also the state president of the Congress party.
According to Mann, “It would have been better if Navjot Singh Sidhu had agreed to debate with me on all important and future issues, because in a democracy there is a need for open public debate between the people and political leaders on every issue related to the state. People can form their opinion by understanding the whole thing and all aspects.”
Bhagwant Mann alleged that being part of a corrupt and mafia government like Congress, Navjot Singh Sidhu could not speak on illegal mining in Chamkaur Sahib and other major issues. That’s why he’s backing out.
