Jalandhar, May 12: ”Rubbishing reports that he was joining the saffron party, Bholath MLA Sukhpal Khaira said, “A blatant lie is being perpetuated. The BJP is playing a dangerous game of polarising society. I left the Congress after consultations with people in India and abroad. My reasons for joining AAP were ideological. I can’t join the BJP.”
Khaira, who had resigned as the AAP chief whip earlier this week, said Thursday that the Aam Aadmi Party didn’t stand a chance in the Gurdaspur byelection and the MC elections, even as the former Congress leader dismissed speculation that he might join the BJP.
Addressing a press conference, Khaira claimed that he had been offered a Cabinet berth by Congress poll strategist Prashant Kishor ahead of the Assembly elections, but he had preferred to stay in AAP. “Twenty days before the February 4 elections, Kishor held a meeting with me. He said he had been authorised by the party to offer me a Cabinet berth. But I said no.”

”Claiming that AAP had deviated from its ideals, Khaira said, “The party will lose the forthcoming elections. However, all is not lost. If AAP takes corrective steps, it still has hope for the 2019 Lok Sabha elections.
