Patiala, June 5: Even as the police are still trying to piece together evidences to ascertain the exact motive behind setting up of a bomb making unit in Patiala by father-son duo, the bomb disposal squad (BDS) has ruled out recovery of any suicide bomber jacket from house of Rajatvir Singh. The squad had searched the bomb-making unit.

Ravinder Kumar, one of the key members of the BDS, which had recovered 15 bombs and explosives material from the house of Rajatvir and then destroyed the same, confirmed that no suicide bomber jacket was recovered from the house. He said Rajatvir appeared to be an amateur bomb making buff who had collected a lot of information about explosives and even assembled supplies with which he had managed to make a few pressure cooker and pipe bombs.

Kumar told that one of the pipe bombs recovered from the house was filled tightly which drew attention to the fact that he had started understanding the bomb making mechanism and was even improving his ‘ bomb making skills’ by experimenting with the explosives. The blasts that he had carried out in Falauli and nearby villages had finally led to the busting of the unit by the district police after a number of villagers approached cops.
None of the bombs that the squad recovered from the house had the exactitude of that made by a professional bomber. But the evidence collected had brought to fore that he was following procedures of making improvised explosive devices (IEDs) Kumar said.
