Faridkot, September 2: The School Education Department today started the process to give compulsory retirement to all teachers, teaching and non-teaching staff — aged 50 years and above — whose performance and conduct are not satisfactory.The retirement age of the teaching and non-teaching staff is 58 years with two extensions of one year each.
Krishan Kumar, Secretary, School Education, today directed all circle education officers (CEOs) and district education officers (DEOs) to prepare a list of these employees whose efficiency and performance failed to meet the parameters. “These employees will be given compulsory retirement,” said the secretary.
The parameters to evaluate these “non-performing” employees include their conduct and work in schools, the result of their students and tendency of absenteeism among them. The teachers, whose students’ pass result was zero per cent this year, should also be given compulsory retirement, said the secretary.The secretary asked the CEOs and DEOs to submit the list of all employees who were availing a lot of leaves, not taking interest in their work and their conduct was not satisfactory. The list of such teachers is to be submitted to the department in a week.The teachers who are settled in foreign countries and have remained absent for long need not be retained in the department, said the secretary.
