Chandigarh, April 23- Punjab Rural Development and Panchayat Minister Tript Rajinder Singh Bajwa on Friday congratulated all panchs and sarpanchs of Punjab and said for strengthening parliamentary democracy, we need to empower the Panchayati raj system.
Bajwa said that India lives in villages and the development of rural areas ensures the progress of the country. He said on this day, we must pledge to work honestly for the growth of the villages.
Mentioning former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi, Rural Development and Panchayat Minister said Gandhi was the first to initiate development works in the villages. He exhorted the officers and employees of his department to work towards realizing the dreams of the Former Prime Minister by helping panchayats, panchs and sarpanchs.
Bajwa said on eve of National Panchayati Raj Day, many Panchayats of the state are being honoured for their concerted efforts in the development of the villages by the union government and the Ministry of Rural Development and panchayat.
