Chandigarh, October 12
Punjab Education Minister Pargat Singh on Tuesday directed the officers to immediately resolve the grievances and demands of the employees of the school education department and the candidates in the recruitment process. In order to resolve the cases related with Personnel Finance Department, the Minister said that a meaningful result should be worked out in coordination with the Advocate General, Chief Secretary and officials of the concerned departments.
It was disclosed by S. Pargat Singh during a meeting held at Punjab Bhawan, Chandigarh today with about 40 unions of various cadres of the Education Department, ongoing recruitment candidates and those related to the unemployed. He personally arranged a meeting of the representatives of some unions with the education officials on the spot to discuss the demands in detail.
The Education Minister said that the state government was responding to the demands of every union/employees in a positive manner. He directed the authorities to take immediate action to find a viable solution. He asked the officers to make a list of issues to be considered in a meeting with the Advocate General to expedite the recruitment and other matters which were stalled due to court cases. The Minister also called for resolving issues including promotion, rationalization of staff and transfer of district and state cadres on priority basis.
S. Pargat Singh told the unemployed unions that the department is carrying out the recruitment of 18,900 teachers and in case of any need, more would be recruited. He called upon all the teachers to give priority to quality education and make efforts to increase the enrollment of students in government schools.
The meeting was attended by Education Secretary Ajoy Sharma, DPI (Secondary Education) Sukhjit Pal Singh, DPI (Elementary Education) Harinder Kaur, Director SCERT Dr. Jarnail Singh, ASPD Manoj Kumar, Assistant Director Recruitment Cell Harpreet Singh and Assistant Director (Elementary Education) Bindu Gulati.
