The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA and state Kissan Wing president Kultar Singh Sandhwan criticized the former Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal, stating that six months had passed to the farmers’ agitation against the three black laws related to agriculture being implemented by the Narendra Modi-led central government; but the patron of Shiromani Akali Dal Badal and the so-called flag bearer of the farmers Parkash Singh Badal had kept a conspiratorial silence in favor of the BJP government. In a statement issued on Thursday, Kultar Singh Sandhwan said that Parkash Singh Badal, who has been the Chief Minister of Punjab for five times by playing politics in the name of farmers, had openly supported the three new laws related to agriculture enacted by the BJP government at the centre.

He said that the daughter-in-law of Parkash Singh Badal and former Union Cabinet Minister Harsimrat Kaur Badal and former Deputy Chief Minister and Member of Lok Sabha Sukhbir Singh Badal had strongly supported the agriculture laws through newspapers and TV channels. Taking a dig, Sandhwan alleged that the Badal family had stabbed the farmers in the back in support of the agricultural laws. “The people of Punjab are well aware that Parkash Singh Badal has maintained his relationship with Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to stay in power in Punjab, that is why Parkash Singh Badal never speaks in favor of the farmers,” he added.

The AAP leader further said that the farmers of Punjab and other states had started a struggle for repeal of new agricultural laws and the farmers, laborers and agronomists were all opposing the three black farm laws. “Six months have passed since this struggle and more than 450 farmers have died; but Parkash Singh Badal has not uttered a single word against PM Narendra Modi, BJP and RSS,” said Sandhwan. He alleged that Parkash Singh Badal who pretended to be benevolent to the farmers, only loved his political interests and did not care about the farmers and laborers.
