Mohali, July 21: Self-styled healer and pastor Bajinder Singh arrested on the charges of rape had allegedly raped the victim three times in the past one year.

The mother of two has told the police that Bajinder, 36, president of The Church of Glory and Wisdom Chandigarh, used to take her to his flat in Sector 63 in his car, where he raped her thrice.

“We have recovered the accused’s Toyota Fortuner that he used to take the victim to his house,” said Pawan Kumar, SHO, Zirakpur.

The accused is married and has two daughters — a six-year-old and an 18-month-old. He was on Thursday sent to two-day police remand.

The woman, a resident of Zirakpur, who runs a roadside eatery there, also alleged in her complaint that Bajinder, using his “special powers”, would make her lose consciousness and assault her that she would realise on regaining consciousness.

Advocate Pushpa Salaria, who helped the woman lodge a complaint, alleged, “Bajinder used to lure women to become his ‘special’ followers and sexually exploited them after making their objectionable videos.”

“Bajinder, using a letter head of a church in London also used to lure followers on the pretext of sending them abroad. The victim has shared that he had even taken Rs 7 lakh each from eight people for arranging their visas,” Salaria alleged.

Denying the allegations, Bajinder claimed false implication by the woman. In his questioning, Bajinder told the police that he had a fight with the woman over some financial transaction, following which she filed a false complaint. He claimed that he was being targeted owing to his mass following.

Investigators said Bajinder sold an “anointing water”, claimed to be purified with special prayers that was a “cure to all pains”. “Bajinder was selling the water at a high price, claiming that it brought along Jesus’ blessings,” shared a pastor, not willing to be named.

He used platforms like his You Tube channel and Facebook page to market and sell the water online.

Meanwhile, cops at the Zirakpur police station where Bajinder is lodged in remand have been getting requests over the phone and in person to allow them to meet the accused. A cop posted at the station, requesting anonymity, said even a cop from Chandigarh Police had turned up to meet Bajinder.
