Accusing the central government of discrimination in providing Covid-19 vaccines and other essential medical supplies to several states, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has criticised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for this. In a statement issued from the party headquarters here on Thursday, AAP state president and MP Bhagwant Mann said that Prime Minister Modi was doing step-motherly behavior with many states in the country even during the time of Covid pandemic. Mann said that PM Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah were seeing nothing but only the West Bengal elections.
He said that Covid cases and mortality rate was rising at record levels in the country but all the BJP leaders and ministers were busy in West Bengal assembly elections. “Modi has left the states alone to fight Corona and is making false claims in the name of vaccines. The central government is discriminating in providing corona vaccines and other essentials to the states” he added. Mann said that the BJP-ruled states were being given more preference, while intending to discredit other states, they were being provided less number of vaccines and other medical supplies.
Taking a dig at the Modi-led central government of financially crippling the states, Mann said that the central government had indirectly controlled the revenue sources of the states, due to which many states were facing severe financial crises. He said that the state government still needs more funds to deal with Corona, but the Modi government was doing politics instead of providing funds to the states. “It is very unfortunate and shameful to do politics in this time of pandemic,” he added. Further accusing Modi of colluding with Pharma companies, Mann said that earlier Prime Minister Modi tried to ruin the lives of farmers by colluding with Adani-Ambani and now they were playing with the lives of common people by tying up with Pharma companies.
Further slamming the central government, the AAP leader accused the government of charging three times more money from the purchase to provide vaccines to the other states. Mann said that it was very surprising that the central government has bought a Covid vaccine for ₹ 150 and the same vaccine was being given to the states for ₹ 400. He appealed to the central government to provide vaccines at affordable prices to the states so that the state government could provide maximum numbers of vaccines to its people and prevent the pandemic from spreading.
