Chandigarh, May 26: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will dedicate India’s first access control highway—Kundli-Ghaziabad-Palwal (KGP) Expressway—to people at Baghpat on Sunday.
An official spokesperson said here on Saturday that the Eastern Peripheral Expressway (KGP), constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 5,763 crore by the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI), would ease traffic congestion in Delhi.

The NHAI had been completed within a record period of 500 days against the target of 910 days.

The smart and green KGP Expressway is first of its kind in the country and toll based on distance covered by a vehicle would be charged. It would be fully operated through solar energy.

Besides, the National Highway Authority of India has constructed a digital art gallery that illustrates the techniques used and hindrances faced during the journey of its construction for the knowledge of future generations, at Bapsara-Jakholi village in Sonepat district.
