Malout, July 11: The town has been converted into a fortress as nearly 5,000 cops have been deployed for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Kisan Kalyan rally here at the grain market on Wednesday. The SAD-BJP alliance is organising the rally to thank the PM for increasing the MSP of crops. They are expecting a turnout of nearly one lakh people.

Meanwhile, Punjab chief minister, Capt Amarinder Singh took a subtle dig at the PMs rally. In his tweet the Chief minister dared PM Modi to announce loan waver and full implementation of Swaminathan report.

The rally is expected to begin post noon. Among the VVIPs former CM Parkash Singh Badal, Union Minister Vijay Sampla, Haryana CM Manohar Lal Khattar, state BJP presidents of Haryana and Rajasthan will be present.

Sumeet Jarangal, Muktsar DC, said: “Due to security reasons, the exact timing of the PM’s schedule can’t be revealed, but he is expected to leave before 2 pm. Shopkeepers at the grain market have been requested to close their establishments since a large number of people are expected to turn up.”

Meanwhile, there were reports that Modi’s visit had been cancelled. However, SAD and BJP leaders said these were rumours being spread by their opponents.
