Preneet Kaur reiterates demand for repeal of ‘black’ farmer laws

Chandigarh/Patiala, January 8: Even as she reaffirmed state government’s commitment to stand alongside our Annadatas, the Member Parliament from Patiala Preneet Kaur on Thursday said that reversal of draconian agricultural laws was utmost necessary to save our agriculture.

Our farmers are our lifeline and Punjab would do anything to preserve their pride, Preneet Kaur said here while cautioning centre to give up its adamant attitude over contentious farm laws.

Modi government must reverse these legislations without any more delay as not even a single farmer wants those, she said here after visiting farmer families who had suffered losses while coming back from Singhu border protests.

Extending his condolences to family of farmer Labh Singh of Sapheda village, who had met with a fatal accident on his way back from Singhu, the MP said Captain Amarinder Singh government would always do everything possible to ensure their welfare.

The Congress leader also handed over a brand new tractor to the family as a token of respect from state government.

Preneet Kaur also presented a trolley to Sarpanch of Sapheda village Harinder Sinhh who had  had met with an accident on their way back from protest site in Delhi. The MP who also personally visited farmer families of deceased Jagir Singh of village Partapgarh, Harbans Singh and Davinder Singh of Mehmadpur Jattan village who had lost lives during protests. The MP was accompanied by Senior Congress leader Harinderpal Singh Harry Mann.

Reiterating her personal commitment to farmers welfare, the former External Affairs Minister said that she would always keep raising the voice of our farmers to force centre to revoke vicious laws at the earliest.

The MP also thanked Sonalika for providing a brand new tractor and Nabha Power Limited for arranging a new trolley to compensate the material loss of both the families on her request.
