Chandigarh, September 14:
Punjab State Gau Sewa Commission (PSGSC) Chairman Mr. Sachin Sharma appreciated the state government led by Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh for issuing directions to the Animal Husbandry Department to find out the modalities for using paddy straw as fodder for the cattle kept in the Gaushalas.
In a statement issued here today, Mr. Sharma said that this step will be beneficial for the environment; on the other hand the state will be able to provide fodder for cattle and other animals in abundance. “The tractor-trolleys available in the Gaushalas would be used for picking up the straw so that it could be stored and used during the fodder shortage” said the chairman, adding that a special meeting of the commission would shortly be convened to mobilize all the office bearers in this regard. Apart from this, the farmers and other social organizations would also be requested to cooperate for the delivery of straw to the Gaushalas.
Mr. Sharma said that it was also a commendable step to deploy Special Task Force under precautionary measures to prevent paddy straw burning in the fields and to appoint nodal officers at Village, Cluster, Tehsil and District level to control air pollution. He said that instructions to all the Deputy Commissioners to make comprehensive arrangements for the storage of paddy straw would ensure the access of the required quantity straw as fodder in the gaushalas at the district level.
