Jalandhar, June 6: Punjab AAP leader Sukhpal Khaira on Monday demanded that Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh should also be brought under the ambit of investigation ordered into the “mining scam” allegedly involving Congress MLA Rana Gurjit Singh.
Addressing a dharna by the party MLAs and workers on the issue outside the District Administrative Complex (DAC) here, Khaira said AAP would not end its protest on the issue unless Power and Irrigation Minister and Congress MLA Rana Gurjit Singh resigned and the probe into the alleged scam was allocated to a sitting High Court judge.
Khaira also demanded that the passport of Rana Gurjit Singh be seized.
Taking on the CM, Khaira said, “Even as records and documents do not favour the minister, Capt has been repeatedly defending Rana Gurjit and has termed him innocent. Hence, the judicial inquiry, which is probing the ‘scam’, should also investigate the CM’s role. On what basis is the CM defending the minister?”
