Patiala/Chandigarh, December 31: Delhi Chief Minister and national convener of Aam Aadmi Party Arvind Kejriwal today launched a scathing attack on the people playing dirty politics in Punjab that is just days away from the Assembly elections.

Revisiting the attempt of desecration at the Golden Temple in Amritsar and a bomb explosion in Ludhiana, Kejriwal said such attempts are being made to break the communal harmony of Punjab and disturb its peace and tranquillity.

Punjab unit of Aam Aadmi Party organized a peace march in Patiala for the peace and prosperity of Punjab, which was led by Kejriwal.

On this occasion, AAP leaders, including Arvind Kejriwal, state president Bhagwant Mann and Leader of Opposition Harpal Singh Cheema paid obeisance at the historic Gurdwara Sri Dukh Niwaran Sahib and Sri Kali Mata Mandir and prayed for communal harmony in Punjab.

He said the people of Punjab had no faith in either the Congress party or Captain or Badal or the BJP, as only ordinary people could save Punjab. And for this, all Punjabis must come together.

Kejriwal thanked the thousands of people who had come for the peace march and said the people who had come here represented the 3 crore Punjabis of the state and were replying to the enemies of Punjab that peace and prosperity of Punjab would not be compromised with at any cost.

He claimed that no one could break the peace and brotherhood of Punjab and he (Kejriwal) hoped that the people of Punjab would hand over the power of Punjab to the common people, as Punjabis no longer trust people who are currently in power.

AAP Supremo slammed the Congress government, saying, “The ruling Congressmen have no concern for Punjab as they are fighting among themselves for the Chief Minister’s seat. Channi government is the weakest government of Punjab and it has failed to restore peace in Punjab.”

He said the accuser in sacrilege attempt is dead, Congress government had promised to identify and arrest the conspirators behind the attempt within 48 hours. This promise has not been fulfilled yet as the conspirators who tried to break the communal harmony of Punjab have not yet been caught.

Kejriwal questioned the desecration of Sri Guru Granth Sahib and other religious scriptures and places, bomb blasts and terrorist activities just before the elections and said that’s why Punjabis need to be extremely vigilant and united.

Mr. Kejriwal said that people of Punjab were well aware of selfish, opportunistic and mafia forces like Congress, Captain, Badals and BJP. Therefore, for the 2022 elections, the people have made up their mind to remove these corrupt people from power positions.

The people of Chandigarh have recently shown this after Delhi. Kejriwal also appealed to the people of Punjab to change the government of Punjab in the upcoming elections. “We must bring a new government. The people of Punjab will decide in the new government and the AAP government will implement this decision,” he said.

Speaking on the occasion, Bhagwant Mann said, “Punjab has to keep an eye on ill-intenders, because whenever elections come, sacrilege, bomb blasts and other incendiary incidents are carried out on the land of Punjab so that the brotherhood of Punjab can be broken.”

Mann accused the BJP of pursuing a policy of hatred, but the people of Chandigarh have told that they wanted a policy of communal harmony and development. “Chandigarh tan jhakki hai, Punjab hale baaki hai (Chandigarh is just a trailer, Punjab will present whole picture),” he added.

Earlier, Kejriwal and his associates laid wreaths at the memorial of Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi. A large number of party workers and leaders from Patiala and adjoining areas, carrying the tricolour flags, took part in the Peace Procession, which was conducted from the infamous Sheranwala Gate of Patiala to Children Memorial Park.
