Punjab govt is serious about concerns of Sikh farmers in Madhya Pradesh: Kangar

Chandigarh January 20: On the directions of Chief Minister Capt. Amarinder Singh, a high powered team under  Revenue Minister Punjab Mr GS Kangar reached Gwalior in Madhya Pradesh to redress the grievances of Sikh farmers.

“Preliminary talks with the administration have been held and the spot visit is scheduled for Tuesday”, informed the Minister. He said that as per the directions of Chief Minister Punjab the team comprising of Mr Harminder Singh Gill, MLA Patti, Mr. HS Hanspal Ex MP, Mr Deepinder Singh Commissioner Patiala Division, Mr Narinder Sanga, Member Punjab Revenue Commission and captain Karnail Singh additional secretary revenue will visit the spot and assess the situation.

The Minister said that as per the information gathered so far, the farmers allege that they have been the occupants of the area since 1980 and have been forcefully evicted without following the course of law.

He said that the team will see the revenue records as well as listen to both the parties at length so that law may take its course.

The Minister said that  Punjab government is serious about the concerns of Sikh farmers in Madhya Pradesh  and assured that the rehabilitation of Sikh farmers will definitely be ensured.
