Political Standing
Pargat Singh was first elected as MLA from Jalandhar Cantt Vidhan Sabha seat in the elections held in 2012 on Shiromani Akali Dal ticket. He won by a margin of 6797 votes from Jagbir Brar of the Congress.
In 2017 elections, Pargat Singh contested as the Congress candidate and beat Sarabjit Singh Makkar of the Akali Dal.
