Ludhiana factory collapse: Three killed, several trapped; NDRF team at the spot

Ludhiana, November 20: Three persons including two firemen and a taxi operator died, while two others suffered injuries after a plastic manufacturing factory caught fire and collapsed in Ludhiana on Monday morning.

Fifteen persons are still feared trapped inside a multi-storey building of a plastic factory near Sufian Chowk in Industrial Area that caught fire at around 6:30am.

While the army has been put on alert, a National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) team has reached the spot. “18 people are estimated to be trapped,” ADCP Rattan Brar said.

While locals say at least 40 persons, including 10 fire brigade officials, are trapped inside the building, police is pegging the number to be between 8-10. Rescue work in on.
