New Delhi/Bathinda, June 14

A team of Punjab Police is bringing Lawrence Bishnoi to Mansa after a Delhi court on Tuesday allowed the state force to formally arrest the gangster in connection with their probe into the Punjabi singer-turned-politician Sidhu Moosewala murder case.

Lawrence Bishnoi is likely to be presented in court in Mansa on Wednesday.

Security has been beefed up at Mansa district administration complex and court complex in view of Lawrence Bishnoi .

Mansa police team along with Lawrence Bishnoi is likely to reach Mansa by 2.30 am and he is likely to presented in court at 10 am tomorrow, as per Mansa police officials.

Earlier, a Delhi court allowed the Punjab Police to formally arrest gangster Lawrence Bishnoi.

Moosewala was shot dead on May 29 by unidentified assailants in Punjab’s Mansa district.

The Punjab Police counsel informed the Patiala House Court in Delhi that Bishnoi is a key conspirator in the Moosewala murder case, while seeking the gangster’s transit remand saying that his custodial interrogation was necessary.

The Punjab Police sought the transit remand of Bishnoi to produce him before the court of the Mansa Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) in accordance with the law.

Punjab Police counsel further submitted that during the investigation of the Moosewala murder case, the confessional statements of the arrested accused persons were recorded wherein it was clearly pointed out that Bishnoi had tasked the co-accused to carry out the “planned killing of Moosewala”.

Even Delhi Police’s interrogation of Bishnoi indicated that was the key conspirator in the planned murder of Sidhu Moosewala, the Punjab Police said.

Meanwhile, Advocate General of Punjab Anmol Rattan Sidhu submitted that if the custody of Lawrence Bishnoi is given to the Punjab Police, then it will take full responsibility for the gangster’s security.

However, Advocate Vishal Chopra appearing for Bishnoi opposed the Punjab Police application and said that there is a security threat. There is apprehension that Bishnoi may be “eliminated” if transit remand is granted, he informed.
