When the accused was being taken to the police station, a group of Sikhs asked policemen to hand him over to them so that they could teach him a lesson, said SSP Parampal Singh.

When policemen refused, the mob allegedly attacked them following which the SHO of the police station, Ramdas Vipan Kumar and four of his junior colleagues were injured. Their mobile sets were also snatched, police said.

The SSP reached the spot with additional force and rescued the policemen and the accused.
