Fulfilling the long-pending demand of direct AC bus service from the border area to Chandigarh, Transport Minister Laljit Singh Bhullar, on Thursday, flagged off the AC Volvo bus from Patti to Chandigarh.
After flagging off the Volvo bus from Patti Bus Stand, the Cabinet Minister said, the long-pending demand of the people of the border belt has been fulfilled today as the influential people in the previous governments never allowed the government Volvo bus service to run from Patti due to their personal interests.
He informed that this bus will ply at 4.30 AM from Patti and reach Chandigarh at 10.00 AM via Amritsar, Jalandhar. The return journey through the same route from Chandigarh will be at 5.40 PM and will reach Patti around 10.30 PM. “The return time 5.40 PM has been fixed keeping in mind that people can easily avail the Volvo bus service after government office hours and the one-way fare has been fixed at Rs.770”, he added.
Training guns at people involved in bus mafia, S. Laljit Singh Bhullar said that with the start of bus service from Punjab to International Airport Delhi by Chief Minister S. Bhagwant Singh Mann led government coupled with around three times lower fare, has ruined private bus mafia. The daily 80 times of buses of the influential family have reduced to 20 after as around 20 government buses from different districts of the state are plying to Delhi International Airport.
Expressing gratitude towards Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, the Transport Minister said that all the pro-people and welfare works become possible after the Mann government came into power in the state and the government will continuously strive in this direction.
He informed that 219 new buses are being added to the PRTC fleet soon and the shortage of drivers & conductors will be overcome within a few days. This will further increase the number of government buses on the roads of the state, he added.
