Punjab urges Centre to provide insurance cover to all officials employed in field

CHANDIGARH, APRIL 6: To boost the morale of Government staff in battle against COVID-19, the Punjab Cabinet led by Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh has urged the Centre to provide insurance cover to all officers/officials working relentlessly for containment of corona virus across the state. 

According to an official spokesperson, the Cabinet, in its meeting held on April 4, decided that Union Government should immediately announce insurance for all government employees rendering services to keep the spread of corona virus under check.

Therefore, the Cabinet also mooted a proposal to the Centre in this regard to immediately provide insurance cover to all those officers/officials, from the departments of Police, Revenue, Local Government, Rural Development and Panchayats, Food & Civil Supplies, Women and Child Development etc, working in these difficult circumstances.

The Cabinet reiterated that the insurance cover to these employees would further motivate them to support state Government’s endeavour to combat the covid pandemic with utmost dedication and professional commitment.
