Prime Minister Narendra Modi today said many decisions and reforms may seem unpleasant initially, but over time the country feels the benefits of those reforms. The 21st century India belongs to wealth and job creators and innovators, who are the country’s true strength, he said speaking at an event in Bengaluru, adding that “the government has been promoting them for the past eight years.”
“The path of start-up and innovation is not the one with ease, and taking the country on this path for the last eight years was also not easy. Several decisions and reforms may be unpleasant temporarily, but with time their benefits can be experienced by the country,” the Prime Minister said in the backdrop of widespread protests against ‘Agnipath,’ the new army recruitment scheme announced by the Centre.

“The path of reforms can alone take us towards new targets and new resolve…we have opened up the space and defence sector which for decades were under government control,” he said.
The Prime Minister said whether an undertaking is government or private, both are the assets of the country, so the level playing field should be given to everyone equally.
Reaching out to the youth, he invited them to test their vision and ideas on the world class facilities that the government is providing. “The government is providing a platform to the youth who are working hard. Even the government companies will compete on a level playing field,” he said.
The Prime Minister today inaugurated and laid the foundation stone of multiple rail and road infrastructure projects worth over Rs 27,000 crore in Bengaluru.
The five national highway projects, seven railway projects, 100% electrification of Konkan Railway will give new facilities, new opportunities to the youth, middle class, farmers, workers and entrepreneurs of Karnataka, he said.
The PM also inaugurated the Centre for Brain Research and laid the foundation stone for Bagchi Parthasarathy Multispeciality Hospital at IISc Bengaluru and a new campus of Dr BR Ambedkar School of Economics (BASE) University.
The Centre for Brain Research is one-of-its- kind research facility, focussing on conducting vital research to provide evidence based public health interventions to manage age-related brain disorders.
“The Bagchi Parthasarathy Multispeciality Hospital will be developed in the campus of IISc Bengaluru and will help integrate science, engineering and medicine at the prestigious institute. It will provide a major push to clinical research in the country and will work towards finding innovative solutions that will help in the improvement of healthcare services in the country,” according to an official statement.
