Residents demand Kotkapura-Moga rail connectivity

Muktsar, May 19: Since the change of the state government, the demand for a railway track between Kotkapura and Moga is regularly being raised by residents.

Sources said some influential private transporters had their monopoly on this route, due to which residents’ request always fell on deaf ears in the past. “The previous SAD-BJP government was not interested to lay a railway line on this section as it would affect business of some transporters,” claimed a source.

He said, “If the track between these two towns is laid, then a number of towns will get connected with Ludhiana and there will be more connectivity.” Sham Lal Goyal, vice president, Northern Railways Passengers Samiti, Muktsar, said, “We have written to the Railway Minister, all senior officers in the Railways and state PWD (B&R) Minister. The issue was raised again recently. Now, we will go to meet the senior officers concerned and give a representation regarding the need for the Kotkapura-Moga railway line.
