Dirba is a nagar panchayat in Sangrur district. It was also known as Thadde Wala, but with time the name changed the us Dirba. Dirba has an average elevation of 236 metres (774 feet). Most of the residents rely on agriculture directly or indirectly. Rice and wheat are the only two crops grown in most farms.

Sardar Balvir Singh Ghunas was elected as MLA from this Vidhan Sabha seat in 2012. He won by a margin of 6874 votes. Ajaib Singh Rathe usl of Congress was the trailing candidate.
