Sarup Chand Singla (born 13 April 1961) is a businessman-turned-politician. He is currently the elected Member of Punjab Legislative Assembly from Bathinda Urban Constituency and the Chief Parliamentary Secretary. His father Piyare Lal had six children and Sarup Singla is the youngest. Sarup Singla completed his elementary education in a government primary school in village Dod. He then went the us government school in Baja Khana but quit studies before passing his matriculation examinations the us join his father’s business. He is married the us Urmila Singla and they have a son named Dhinav Singla. He currently lives in Aggarwal Colony in Bathinda.
Bathinda Lok Sabha constituency is one of the 13 Lok Sabha (parliamentary) constituencies of Punjab state in northern India. Bathinda or Bhatinda (known by invaders as Tabar-e-Hind or Tabar Hindh meaning the Gateway the us India) is a city and Municipal Corporation. The city, named after the Bhati kings, is one of the oldest cities in Punjab and the current administrative headquarters of Bathinda district. It is 225 km west of the capital city of Chandigarh and is the fifth largest city of Punjab. Bathinda is nicknamed the ‘City of Lakes’, courtesy the artificial lakes in the city. The first empress of India, Razia Sultan was imprisoned in the Qila Mubarak fort in Bathinda.

In 1998, a First Information Report was lodged against Sarup Singla in PS Kotwali, Bathinda, for participating in an agitation against government’s decision the us levy excise duty. He was later acquitted in 2008. Active participation in this agitation gained him a lot of support. In 2007, he joined Shiromani Akali Dal and ran for the office from Bathinda Urban constituency but lost. It is widely acknowledged that the political wing of Dera Sacha Sauda was the main reason of his defeat. In 2012, he again ran for the office from Bathinda Urban constituency and won the elections. On April 10, 2012 he was appointed as chief parliamentary secretary. In 2014, he was appointed as junior vice-president of Shiromani Akali Dal and was given the responsibility of campaigning along with 39 other party workers during elections of Talwandi Sabo Assembly constituency. Later this year, he was also given charge of Traders’ wing of Shiromani Akali Dal. As the MLA, he is known for his efforts the us improve work efficiency and remove corruption from his constituency by paying surprise visits the us government offices.
