CHANDIGARH, JANUARY 31: Punjab’s rural homeless are all set to get houses under a scheme approved by Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh to provide 1,32,620 plots of 5 Marla each in villages where land is available with the Panchayats.
The Chief Minister had, on January 22, directed all the Deputy Commissioners to launch the scheme on campaign basis after identifying the requisite land for this purpose.
Under the proposal mooted by the Rural Development and Panchayats Department, the Chief Minister has asked the DCs to allot at least 10 plots in every village to the homeless families, where land is available with the Panchayats.
Giving details about the district wise allotment of plots, an official spokesperson said that there were 860 Panchayats in district Amritsar hence the number of plots to be allotted to such homeless families would be 8600. Bathinda district has 314 panchayats with 3140 plots, while Barnala has 175 panchayats with 1750 plots.
As many as 8380 plots would be carved out in Ferozepur district by 838 Panchayats, whereas 4350 plots would be provided by 435 Panchayats in Fazilka and 2430 plots in Faridkot districts. In Fatehgarh Sahib, 4290 plots would be provided in 429 villages, while 12790 plots would be given to such beneficiaries by 1279 Panchayats in Gurdaspur district.
In Hoshiarpur district, 14050 plots would be given in 1405 villages, 8900 plots in 890 villages of Jalandhar, 5460 plots in 546 villages of Kapurthala, 9430 in 943 villages of Ludhiana, 2450 in 245 villages of Mansa, 2690 in 269 villages of Sri Muktsar Sahib, 3400 plots in 340 villages of Moga, 4660 plots in 466 villages of Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar, 10380 plots in 1038 villages of Patiala, 6110 plots in 611 villages of Ropar, 4210 plots in 421 villages of Pathankot, 5990 plots in 599 villages of Sangrur, 3410 plots in 341 villages of SAS Nagar and 5750 plots in 575 villages of Tarn Taran district.
