Senior journalist Bhambi’s passing a personal loss, says CM’s Media Adviser

Ludhiana, March 3: Senior journalist Rajesh Bhambi was cremated here on Tuesday, with family, friends as well as many prominent personalities and journalists bidding him a tearful adieu.

Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh’s Media Adviser Raveen Thukral laid a wreath on behalf of Captain Amarinder, while personally mourning Bhambi as a close friend. The Chief Minister had earlier condoled the sudden demise of Bhambi, who was suffering from a kidney ailment for some time and breathed his last on Sunday morning at Deep Hospital, Ludhiana.

A wreath was also placed on Bhambi on behalf of the Hindustan Times, where he had worked as a stringer covering Punjab.

Bhambi’s son, Zubin, who reached Ludhiana from Canada last evening, fulfilled the last rites at the cremation ground, which saw a large number of people, including journalists and prominent leaders, remembering the India News Bureau Chief as an excellent professional and warm human being.

The bereaved family, including Bhambi’s wife and two daughters, as well as son Zubin, were also joined by their relatives in mourning his death.

Thukral said he could not reconcile to the sudden loss of Bhambi, who had been a colleague and a close friend for many years.

Bhambi started his career with Reuters after studying at News Network. He had worked as a photo journalist from Punjab for India Today, a photo journalist at Ludhiana for The Tribune and then at Hindustan Times. His also remained Bureau Chief at India-news and journalist at Punjab Kesari.
