Sharanjit Singh Dhillon is a member of the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD). He represented Ludhiana in the Lok Sabha in 2004. In 2012, he successfully contested the Punjab Assembly elections on Akali ticket and represents Sahnewal. He was born on 18-04-1953 at Bhagpur, District Ludhiana. Name of his father is Mohinder Singh.

In Sahnewal, 12% of the population was under 6 years of age.

Sardar Sharanjit Singh Dhillon is the MLA from Sahnewal. He is associated with Shiromani Akali Dal. He was elected as MLA from this Vidhan Sabha seat in the elections held in 2012. He won by a margin of 21,209 votes. Vikram Singh Dhillon of Congress was the trailing candidate.
