AAP constitutes 5-member campaign committee in Punjab

Chandigarh, April 11: Delhi Deputy Chief Minister and in charge Punjab political affairs of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), Manish Sisodia, will launch the Lok Sabha election campaign from  Sangrur Parliamentary constituency  on April 15. Punjab unit campaign committee chairman Aman Arora told mediapersons in Chandigarh on Thursday.

Arora said the party had cut out a road map for the upcoming Lok Sabha election – 2019. Sisodia will also address a meeting of party workers/volunteers on the occasion.

Arora also announced the formation of a 5-member campaign committee (Punjab unit), which included Harchand Singh Barsat, Navdeep Singh Sangha, Neel Garg, Sukhraj Singh Gora Ferozeshah and Avtar Singh Eilwal.

Arora informed that he, in his capacity as Punjab unit campaign committee chief, would address meeting at Hoshiarpur and Jalandhar (April 16), Sri Anandpur Sahib and Patiala (April 17), Fatehgarh Sahib (April 18), Gurdaspur and Amritsar (April 19), Faridkot and Ferozepur (April 21).

Replying to a question on Punjab unit chief Bhagwant Mann’s letter addressed to the people of the state, especially his saying no to alcohol, Arora clarified that Mann had taken this decision in the interest of the public and to silence his detractors in the Congress and Akali Dal.

He said instead of targeting their adversary to earn cheap publicity, they should have focused on people-centric issues.

On forging alliance with political parties, Arora said the core committee of the party (Punjab unity) had already conveyed its view to the high command against any poll pact whatsoever. Arora made it clear that poll alliance with the Congress Party in Delhi had been a distant possibility.

Arora leader said as compared to other leaders of the conventional parties, Bhagwant Mann proved to be the only elected representative from the state who took up a maximum number of people-centric issues and concerns in Parliament during his 5-year-old stint.

Others who were present on the occasion included Kultar Singh (MLA), Harchand Singh Barsat, state secretary Navdeep Singh Sangha, Neel Garg, Youth wing president Manjinder Singh Sidhu, Parbhjot Kaur and state media in charge Manjit Singh Sidhu.
