Chandigarh, July 5
The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) got a major boost on Monday when Amrik Singh Phool, son of late MLA Babu Singh, former state director of Nehru Yuva Kendra Jagjit Singh Mann and Punjab president of Valmiki Mazbi Sikh Morcha Mahinder Singh Hamira along with hundreds of his associates joined the party. AAP’s senior leader and Leader of Opposition (LoP) in the Punjab Assembly, Harpal Singh Cheema formally inducted and welcomed the leaders at the party headquarters here. Cheema said that the people from all walks of life were joining AAP as they were impressed by the pro-people policies of the party and the works of Delhi’s Arvind Kejriwal government.
Cheema said that Amrik Singh Phool‘s father late Master Babu Singh had been MLA four times from Rampura Phul constituency and with the arrival of Amrik Singh Phool; the Aam Aadmi Party had gained more strength in the Malwa region. He said that former state director of Nehru Yuva Kendra Jagjit Singh Mann, state awardee Jaswinder Singh Goniana and social activist Harwinder Singh Mahima Sawai had also joined the party. Welcoming the president of Punjab Valmiki Mazbi Sikh Morcha, Mahinder Singh Hamira and his associates; Cheema said that the incorporation of Valmiki Mazbi Sikh Morcha into the AAP would significantly increase the mass base of the party.
Meanwhile, general secretary of the Morcha Gardev Singh Khera, Punjab secretary Balwinder Singh Gharu, youth president Dr Swaran Singh Romi, district Kapurthala president Tarsem Singh Thatta, Seva Singh Sultanpur, Jaspal Singh, Mukha Singh, Subhash Sidhu and Hira Lal Sidhu, also joined the party. Apart from these, Hakim Singh Raikot, Sukhwinder Singh Halbra, Ram Kumar Chhapar, Ramesh Jain Sudhar, Parminder Singh, Swaran Singh Lambardar, Malkit Singh, former panchayat officer Amarjit Ram, Harbans Singh, Kapil Trikha Ludhiana and Congress leader Baljit Sharma also joined the Aam Aadmi Party.
