Chandigarh, January 4:
To further strengthen health care services in the state, Deputy Chief Minister Mr. Om Prakash Soni here on Tuesday handed over appointment letters to 190 Medical Officers in a function held here at Punjab Bhawan.
Mr. Soni informed that 35 Maternal Care Centers (21 District Hospitals, 11 Sub Division Hospitals and 3 Community Health Centers) have been established to provide better health services to the people of the state.
These newly appointed Medical Officers will be posted at the Labour rooms of Maternal Care Centres to provide 24X7 Health care services to ensure safer delivery of pregnant women and new born children, besides to make sure better ante natal and post natal services.
The Cabinet Minister said that vacant posts of Medical Officers in Urban Community Health Centers and Primary Health Centers would also be filled. Medical Officers will also be deputed at Telemedicine Hub Chandigarh and Amritsar to ensure better state of the art health care services to rural population of the State.
While addressing the newly appointed doctors, he told them to serve the people of Punjab with full dedication, honesty and diligence.
On this occasion Principal Secretary Health Mr. Raj Kamal Chaudhuri, Director Health Services Dr GB Singh, Director Family Welfare Dr. OP Gojra and Director National Health Mission Punjab Dr. Areet Kaur were present.
