Sports Director for strengthening sports infrastructure in the state

Punjab Sports Director Mr. D.P.S.  Kharbanda today directed the sports officers to work hard for strengthening the sports related infrastructure and activities in the state.

In a meeting with the District Sports Officers, Deputy Director Sports, Executive Engineers and other senior officers here today, he took the stock of ongoing sports activities in the state. Mr. Kharbanda said that due to the Corona epidemic, sports activities should be carried out as per the instructions of the health department. He also directed all the District Sports Officers to send detailed reports of required sports infrastructure and equipment by July 20, 2020.  Evaluating district wise plan and sports activities to be carried out under ‘Khelo India’ scheme, he said that implementation of this 100 percent sponsored scheme should be ensured.

Mr. Kharbanda said that under Khelo India scheme, officers should focus on talent search and development, promotion of sports amongst people with disabilities, providing more sports opportunities to women, development of sports related infrastructure, development of playgrounds and community coaching, playfield development support to National/Regional/State/Sports academics, community coaching development, state level Khelo India centers, physical development of school children, sports for peace and development, utilization and creation/up-gradation of sports infrastructure and sports promotion in rural area.
