Jalandhar, May 16: The state government has decided to club the Atta-Dal scheme with other welfare schemes while conducting a re-verification of the beneficiaries. As many as 1.42 crore beneficiaries of the Akalis’ flagship scheme have not been getting supplies since January.
The ongoing review of the blue-card holders, the deadline of which was today, has been stopped. A common proforma has been proposed in view of the similar criteria for the identification of beneficiaries under the e-ration card scheme, various pension schemes and housing schemes for landless/homeless people in rural/urban areas.
A meeting of the officials concerned was convened by Chief Secretary Karan Avtar Singh on Friday. He asked SK Sandhu, Additional Chief Secretary (Social Security), to coordinate with the departments and prepare the proforma by May 16. In a communication, the Deputy Commissioners were told to immediately stop the ongoing re-verification under the e-ration card scheme till further orders.
