Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Punjab Senior Leader and Leader of Opposition Harpal Singh Cheema taunted Shiromani Akali Dal (Badal) President and former Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal and asked him about that during their tenures in 1997 to 2002 and from 2007 to 2017, why did the Badals not remember these issues pertaining to the people of Punjab? The Badal family should make it clear to the people of Punjab whether these issues and crises did not exist during their rule.
In a statement issued from the party headquarters, Harpal Singh Cheema said that today Sukhbir Singh Badal was saying, “He (Badal) wants every BA pass in Punjab to get a job worth 50,000/month 5,000.” Why do the Badals only come up with such good ideas when they are out of power?
Mr. Harpal Singh Cheema appealed to the people of Punjab to not vote Badals to power in any circumstances, as they are only compelled to think of Punjab, Punjabiyat and Punjabis while they are out of power. When they are in power they get high on mafia and money, i.e. according to Cheema keeping Badal & Co. away from Punjab’s Assembly is a good thing.
Mr. Cheema asked Sukhbir Singh Badal that the issue of Minimum Support Price (MSP) on vegetables, fruits, basmati and potatoes etc. was decades old. In the meanwhile Parkash Singh Badal himself has been in power for 15 years as the Chief Minister. Why didn’t they take any concrete actions to ensure it then? Why there were piles of potatoes on the sides of the roads during their last 10 years?
Harpal Singh Cheema said that old pension scheme in Punjab was discontinued by Capt. Amarinder Singh government in the year 2004. After that why the Badal family did not decide to restore the old pension scheme from 2007 to 2017. Similarly the condition of government schools and hospitals in Punjab was deplorable even during the Badal government and they didn’t pay any attention to them or tried to improve.
Harpal Singh Cheema said that Aam Aadmi Party has been claiming from day one that AAP has not come to do politics, but to change it for better and today all leaders of Akali, Congress and BJP including Sukhbir Singh Badal, Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi and Navjot Singh Sidhu are imitating Kejriwal. They are announcing the same schemes which have been implemented by the Kejriwal government in Delhi and AAP supremo Kejriwal has given these ‘Guarantees’ to the People of Punjab too.
Cheema said that Badal, Congress, Captain and BJP should stop dreaming of power in Punjab till the stains of desecration of religious scriptures including Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji are on these political parties. And it will remain so until the guilty are punished and the ‘sangat’ gets justice.
Cheema said that Congress, Captain, Badal and BJP have only stabbed Punjab and Punjabis in the backs, despite repeated opportunities to them, so now the people of Punjab have decided to give a chance to Aam Aadmi Party.
