Now, the latest addition to the cast of 83 is Tamil actor Jiiva. He has been roped in to play the role of Tamil Nadu-based cricketer Krishnamachari Srikkanth in the film. Producer Madhu Mantena, in an interview to a daily, revealed that Jiiva is his favourite actor in Tamil.

He said, “I have been a huge fan of Jiiva since the time I saw one of my favourite films with him called KO. I have always wanted to remake it here in Hindi. It’s awesome that finally, I am getting a chance to work with him. I can’t think of anyone better to be able to do justice in playing Srikkanth on the big screen.”

Jiiva will be shedding 7 kilos for his part in the film and has already started his training under cricketer Chandu Border. According to sources, he has been watching videos of the veteran cricketer to learn the nuances of Srikkanth’s batting and bowling style.

The Kavalai Vendam actor revealed that he’s excited to reprise Kris Srikkanth’s role in 93. He shared, ” I am avid cricket buff. I have played several local matches and even been in winning teams. When I got the opportunity to play ace cricketer Srikkanth and that too in my debut Hindi film, I was thrilled. I consider this as a big honour. I am looking forward to the day when I stand in front of the camera for 83.”

According to Jiiva, the shooting of 83 will be held in London for 100 days.
