Ten Punjab AAP MLAs meet Arvind Kejriwal at Sisodia’s Residence

New Delhi, March 19: Ten Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) legislators from the Punjab unit met the party’s national convener and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Sunday evening at Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia’s residence and ruled out the possibility of a split in the party unit.

However, 10 other Punjab MLAs, including Sukhpal Singh Khaira, the AAP’s Leader of Opposition in the Punjab Assembly, did not attend the meeting.

Trouble in the unit started after Mr. Kejriwal apologised to Shiromani Akali Dal leader Bikram Singh Majithia for accusing him of being involved in drug trade.

Following the apology, AAP Punjab president Bhagwant Mann and co-president Aman Arora resigned from their posts.

The MLAs expressed displeasure that Mr. Kejriwal had not consulted them before apologising to Mr. Majithia and they were assured by the CM that in the future, such decision would be made only after consultation with them.

The MLAs were told that Mr. Sisodia would travel to Punjab after the Delhi Assembly’s budget session to resurrect the Punjab unit of the party.
