Thermal sensors installed to detect threat of Corona Virus at Raja Sansi Airport

Chandigarh, January 27: Thermal Sensors have been installed at Raja Sansi Airport of Amritsar to detect the emerging threat of Corona Virus where screening of the passengers has been started today.

No positive case of virus has come to light so far in the State.  International Airport Mohali will also start screening of the passengers from tomorrow onwards. It was disclosed by the Health & Family Welfare Minister Mr. Balbir Singh Sidhu in a press communique.

Giving details, the Minister said that in wake of ongoing alert for Corona Virus, screening of the passengers at Raja Sansi Aiport of Amritsar has been started  with the help of thermal sensor today.

He said that with the thermal scanning, any person having fever will be detected and taken to the health counter for further examination by the team of doctors. He said that screening of the passengers through thermal scanning would also start at International Airport of Mohali from tomorrow onwards.

Mr. Balbir Singh added that any passenger found to be having symptoms of fever, respiratory difficulty will be put on management.

“Department of Health, Punjab has alerted both the airports at Amritsar and Mohali in the State to display advisory for the passengers of international flights for self declaration regarding visit to China and other countries from where cases of Corona Virus have been reported,” he said.

The Health Minister Balbir Singh today reviewed the preparedness of all the districts in terms of logistics, Isolation Wards and Ventilator status.

The Health Minister Punjab advised the public not to panic as there is no confirmed case of Corona Virus reported in the State. He said that there were only 4 persons ( 3 Amritsar, 1 Mohali) who had travel history to China, all the persons have been found asymptomatic by Department of Health and they are under close watch.

He also said that any person who has travelled to china in last 28 days can report the concerned district hospital or inform at 104 helpline number for further assistance.

Mr. Balbir Singh said that Department of Health & Family Welfare is fully aware of the situation and has adequate arrangement in case of any spurt in the cases. The State cell and district cells have been activated for early response and daily situation is being monitored by the authorities and appropriate actions are being taken.

He said that stern instructions have been issued to the Helpline number “104” in this regard. He appealed that any citizen can contact on this number 24X7 for getting any information related to the Corona Virus disease.
